Nietzsche at the torontoist.com

Introduction to Nietzsche is featured in the torontoist's events. Ian McGrenaghan wrote this wonderful promo:

LECTURE: You're in the middle of the second date when she reaches across the table, strokes your hand, and coos soothingly, "Do we not smell anything yet of God's decomposition? Gods too decompose. God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him. How shall we, murderers of all murderers, console ourselves?" Sorry my friend, you can't quote The Simpsons to get you out of this one. Fear not—humorous, straight-forward educator Peter Stevens has started the KnowMore Lecture Series to help you. Expand your mind and free yourself from using Toronto Life references and Wikipedia to bolster dinner party conversations. This week's topic: Nietzsche. 46 Noble Street, Unit 102, today and tomorrow 8–9:30 p.m., pay-what-you-can.

wowee pete. so great that the torontoist picked this up!
best of everything for this week's show. you know there seems to be a hard return to lenin amongst lefties these days, especially with respect to his theories on democracy and imperialism (as opposed to the direction that stalin took them in). if we can take zizek as any kind of icon of political discussions on the left, then i'd say we may be experiencing a lenin renaissance. ok, goodbye (lenin?)!

Ah yes, those theories on democracy and imperialism. Er... "Workers rule, owners drool" -was that Lenin?

Serious though, the dictatorship of the proletariat is a hard sell. I prefer competitive infighting in government. Only now do I understand that Orwell's Animal Farm was trying to celebrate communist ideals and criticize their execution.
